(Seasonal Highlights) Lai Chi Kok Park

Lai Chi Kok Park has an area of about 17.65 hectares, and comprises of traditional Chinese gardens and a wide range of sports facilities including a skate park, a swimming pool complex and football fields. The focus of the park, Lingnan Garden, features courtyards, winding corridors and water features designed and constructed in the Chinese Lingnan style and are adorned by ornaments and artworks.

The focus of the park, Lingnan Garden, features courtyards, winding corridors and water features designed and constructed in the Chinese Lingnan style and are adorned by ornaments and artworks.
This Chinese Pavilion is encircled by ornamental flowering plants and trees. Views from the pavilion overlooking the lake are enhanced by the surrounding planting. The foliage creates an attractive setting for this raised pavilion that is the focus of this part of the garden.
Set within Lai Chi Kok Park, Lingnan Garden has been designed as a classical Chinese Courtyard Garden in the Lingnan Style. The garden is centered around a large pond with pavilions and pathways in classical geometric arrangement surrounded it. The main entrance to the garden includes a separate front entrance wall that helps reinforce the privacy and intimacy of the garden and creates a sequential entry experience via concealment and surprise as one transitions through the gate.
The garden is situated adjacent to Mei Foo Housing Estate. The tall residential buildings provide a stark contrast with the gardens and the park. The numerous mature canopy trees within the garden visually screen the adjacent buildings.
Lingnan Gardens at Lai Chi Kok Park was constructed in classical Lingnan style. The many pavilions and shaded walkways provide a comfortable environment to stroll around.
The many pavilions provide shade and comfortable space for a variety of activities and the gardens are popular with Tai Chi enthusiasts.
The cloistered walkways provide a shaded walking environment. The open windows of different shapes create visual interest as well as framing views as one looks out from the walkway. The walls around the garden are designed to block out outside activity creating a peaceful garden within.
Several artificial streams course their way through the park. The water help cool the adjacent spaces and are the welcoming feature in the park.
The Zig-Zag bridge that crosses the main pond in the gardens is a popular feature in the garden and allows visitors to get up close to the water and the aquatic life within.
Lingnan Garden within the park offers a secluded resting place with seats and shelters for the public. The combination of traditional Chinese architectural elements, reflective pools and ornamental planting these gardens also provide excellent photographic opportunities.

Artificial hills in the park help screen the infrastructure below. This provides opportunities to create interesting landforms, pathways and stairways.
The lake reflection mirrors a clear blue sky, the pavilion, the arched bridge and the surrounding planting, creating a spectacular iconic view of the gardens.
The water curtain at the entrance marks the transition from the Mei Foo residential area to the Lai Chi Kok Park’s recreational facilities. The view and the sound of the water enhances the entry experience.
