植物趣聞

原產地 阿江欖仁原生於印度、斯里蘭卡或其他東南亞地區，同時亦在福建、廣東、廣西等中國省份廣泛栽培。
名字由來 屬名「Terminalia」源自拉丁詞「terminus」，意指其枝條末端的葉片。
生命力 阿江欖仁偏好中性的肥沃土壤（pH 6.5-7.0），尤其是供水、排水皆良、疏鬆的潮濕沖積土。
生態 常生於低海拔溪流、河流和季節性乾水道的岸邊。
應用 阿江欖仁樹姿挺拔優美，樹皮斑駁陸離，花期時樹上掛滿黃白色的花朵，花雖細小但繁密，具優良的觀賞價值，故適合種植作行道樹。阿江欖仁亦具藥用價值。在印度醫學系統中，其樹皮被廣泛應用在治療心血管疾病。同時，阿江欖仁能有效治療多種病症，例如心臟病、胸痛、高膽固醇、心絞痛、高血壓、充血性心臟衰竭、血脂異常、耳痛和泌尿道感染。

辨認特徵

生長習性 落葉大喬木。
高度 最高可達15-20米。
莖 樹皮灰白色，片狀剝落，具板根。小枝互生， 開展。
葉 葉片近對生，互生；葉柄頂端具一對腺體；葉片厚紙質，長圓形或橢圓形，基部心形，不對稱，頂端鈍形或極短急尖，葉緣稍波狀至近全緣，葉面密被乳突，葉背近無毛，側脈兩面明顯。
花 花朵呈黃白色，無梗；花萼齒兩面近無毛。小苞片非常小。
果 核果倒卵球體，具脊，翅頂端通常截形或驟狹，具5條褐色翅。
花期 本港3月至5月。
果期 本港7月至9月。
